IDOT to Open Construction Closures Throughout the State to Ease Holiday Traffic

IDOT – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that lanes that have been closed for construction will reopen where possible for the Independence Day holiday to minimize travel disruption. IDOT is suspending non-emergency roadwork from 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 7, after which construction will resume. The openings are as follows:

District 1

City of Chicago

  • Monroe Street between Halsted Street and Des Plaines Avenue; closed.
  • Van Buren Street between Halsted Street and Des Plaines Avenue; closed.
