Two Local Fire Districts to Receive Funding for Emergency Vehicles

SPRINGFIELD – The Lake Egypt Fire Protection District and the Williamson County Fire Protection District will receive a portion of the $9.3 million in no interest/low interest loans Governor J.B. Pritzker’s administration released Wednesday for the purchase of emergency vehicles.

According to a press release from the Governor’s office, Lake Egypt will receive $350,000 and Williamson County $225,000. The two recipients are among 23 communities across the state receiving funds for new fire trucks.

The loans are made available through the Fire Truck Revolving Loan Program and Ambulance Revolving Loan Program to help departments or cities in purchasing emergency vehicles that may not be able to otherwise afford. Loans for fire trucks must be repaid within 20 years.
