In an interview with Will Ferrell, USA Today has revealed the first stills from the upcoming comedy Get Hard. The film stars Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Alison Brie, Edwina Findley and Craig T. Nelson.
Synopsis: “Get Hard” follows a rich bank manager (Ferrell) who is wrongfully convicted and sentenced to time in a maximum security prison. To prepare himself for his incarceration, Ferrell’s character hires the man who washes his car (Hart) to toughen him up in his final 30 days of freedom.
Highlights from the interview:
On thinking about going to prison: “It’s that thought everyone has had. What if, in some unforeseen circumstance, you were mistakenly sentenced to prison? What would you do? You would either try to flee or you would try to prepare yourself for every single scenario. That’s where comedy comes from.”
On how he would survive in prison: “I would just hope some hardened criminals had laughed at Anchorman or Talladega Nights, and therefore would spare my life. But some inmates would not be fans at all. I would easily be someone’s bitch. It would break one way or another.”
On how his character meets Hart’s character: “I wrongly assume he has a criminal record. And before he punches me in the face for that, I offer him too much money to say no,” says Ferrell. “Darnell is pretending to be a thug so he can help his family to a better life. That’s the leaping-off point.”
The film was directed by Etan Cohen. It will be released on March 27, 2015.
