Deadline reports that Roberto Orci is no longer set to helm Star Trek 3, though the reason why remains unknown.
According to the site, Edgar Wright is one of the people that Paramount is considering to replace Orci. Wright, an avowed Star Trek fan, previously directed a shot for Star Trek Into Darkness while visiting the set. Wright notably was set to direct Ant-Man for Marvel but left the project earlier this year, paving the way for Peyton Reed to take the helm.
The film is aiming for a 2016 release date, suggesting that Paramount will move quickly to find a new director. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana and John Cho are all expected to return.
