Gyllenhaal Passes on Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is still down a main cast member. After Tom Hardy dropped out of the role last week due to scheduling conflicts, rumors suggested Director David Ayer was targeting Jake Gyllenhaal, but Variety now reports that Gyllenhaal has passed on the role.

The open role is that of Rick Flagg, the leader of the forcibly-conscripted team of super-villains, who are forced to work together doing missions under the watch of government agents Amanda Waller. Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, and Viola Davis are starring in the film, which has until its production start date in April to find a replacement for Hardy.

The film is set to hit theaters on August 5th, 2016.
