Gremlins Remake Gets Its Writer

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has hired Carl Ellsworth to pen the much anticipated Gremlins reboot. Ellsworth’s resume reads well including the remake of The Last House on the Left, the remake of Red DawnDisturbia, and the upcoming Goosebumps film starring Jack Black.

The original film was released in 1984 and was based on a boy who inadvertently breaks 3 important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. It had a budget of an estimated $11 million dollars and brought in more than $79 million in rentals alone.
