THR is reporting that the Relativity Media has acquired feature film rights to the Fletch franchise from Warner Bros. According to the report, Relativity wants to produce a film quickly with previously-attached Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, Meet the Millers) in the starring role of Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher.
Fletch originated with the 1974 novel of the same name, about a LA-based investigative journalist. Chevy Chase starred in two films based off the 12 books in the series with Fletch in 1985 and Fletch Lives in 1989.
