TMZ is reporting that Ben and Ray Lai are suing Marvel and Disney. According to the two artists, Marvel stole the design of their “futuristic, armored and weaponized” body suit from their 2001 Radix comic and used it for Iron Man.
They continue to support their claim by stating since Iron Man was created in 1963, the suits were “simple spandex” that had “minimal armor”. When the first Iron Man film debuted in 2008, they claim the suit used was identical to their creation. Marvel also used the same pose from the 2001 Radix comic for the posters of Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3. Ben and Ray Lai are suing for profits from works that use their design.
