According to Deadline, Robert Kirkman (creator of The Walking Dead) has joined Paramount’s “franchise writer’s room” and will be involved with the development of sequels and spinoffs to the Transformers franchise. Kirkman will be joining the team of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost) and Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, Thor). The team is set to work on future films in the franchise with Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Mark Wahlberg is expected to return to the next installment with Michael Bay directing. Transformers: Age of Extinction earned over $1 billion worldwide ($245 million domestically).
