During an interview with the New York Daily News, Margot Robbie discussed her role as Harley Quinn and working with Jared Leto’s (Joker) in Suicide Squad.

On Jared Leto and his version of the Joker: “What he’s doing with the character is so cool. At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused. Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn’t know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable.”

On the difference between Suicide Squad and other comic book films: “I guess the one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way. The scenes are more interesting I feel, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts… she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”

Suicide Squad is about a secret government agency who recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency.

The film will hit theaters August 5, 2016.
