During a recent interview with NME, Suicide Squad writer and director David Ayer spoke about female characters in film, claiming the medium needs more diversity. He said: “I absolutely think that. I think it’s time for more diversity in film and time to recognize the power of women characters in comics. In this [film], I have Harley Quinn, a female villain [Delevingne’s Enchantress) and Amanda Waller, who is the good guy ostensibly but is really in a lot of ways [also] the alpha-wolf of this insane wolf pack.“
