Mel Gibson recently sat down with evangelist Greg Laurie at the SoCal Harvest, and provided an update on The Resurrection. This will be the follow-up to his 2004 movie The Passion of the Christ, and focuses on the Biblical resurrection of Jesus Christ. Gibson said: “We’re talking about that. Of course, that is a huge undertaking. And you know, it’s not The Passion 2, it’s called The Resurrection. Of course, that’s a very big subject and it needs to be looked at because we don’t want to just do a simple rendering of it. I mean, we can all read what happened, but in order to really experience and explore probably deeper meanings of what it’s about is going to take some doing, and Randall Wallace is up to the task.”
The Passion earned $611 million worldwide, and starred Jim Caviezel as Jesus, Maia Morgenstern as Mary and Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdalene.
