According to Variety, DreamWorks Animation and parent company Universal Pictures are opting not to move forward with a sequel to The Croods. Universal Pictures Chairwoman Donna Langely recently met with DreamWorks Animation, and confirmed that production on the sequel was being halted immediately.
The first film released in 2013, grossing $187 million domestically and $587.2 million worldwide from a $135 million budget.
