Variety recently sat down with Sigourney Weaver, who discussed her upcoming role as the villain in Marvel’s The Defenders, and her status for the planned sequels to Avatar. Marvel’s The Defenders is slated to premiere in 2017 on Netflix. The first of several planned Avatar sequels is set to hit theaters December 2018.
Weaver on the scripts she’s read for Avatar 2: “In my opinion, the three scripts I’ve read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope. (James Cameron) did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play.”
Weaver on her character in The Defenders: “I can’t say much, because they might kill me. I think everyone I work for might kill me if I tell you anything. But I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.”
