Mel Gibson Wanted To Direct Suicide Squad Sequel?

According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is hoping to get Mel Gibson to direct the upcoming sequel to Suicide Squad. The two sides are said to be in early talks, and no official offer has been made yet. Gibson is rumored to be “familiarizing himself” with the material.

David Ayer directed the first film. It had mixed response from fans and critics alike, but ended up earning $745 million worldwide. The film starred Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto and focused on a team of villains who are forced to work for the government. Ayer is busy working on a spin-off, Gotham City Sirens, which will bring back Robbie along with other female DC villains.
