Ridley Scott Has A Concept For A Gladiator Sequel

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ridley Scott opened up about his idea for a Gladiator sequel, where Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe), who died in the original would be brought back to life.

Scott said: “I know how to bring him back. I was having this talk with the studio — ‘but he’s dead.’ But there is a way of bringing him back. Whether it will happen I don’t know. Gladiator was 2000, so Russell’s changed a little bit. He’s doing something right now but I’m trying to get him back down here.”

Gladiator won five awards at the Oscars, including best picture and best actor for Russell Crowe. Scott was nominated for best director for the original film, but lost to Steven Soderbergh, who directed Traffic. Gladiator earned $457 million worldwide.
