A new poll shows sinking approval numbers for Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner. 63 percent of Illinoisans disapproved of the job Rauner is doing. That’s 5 percent worse than it was in January. Just 29 percent approve of the governor’s handling of the state budget, with half saying Rauner has done a “poor” job on that issue. Just 68 percent of Republicans approve of Rauner’s job. The poll was conducted by the firm Normington Petts on behalf of the Democratic Governors Association. The poll also showed Rauner would trail a generic Democratic candidate by 12 points if the vote for governor happened today.
