New Director Scraps Ben Affleck’s Script For The Batman

During a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed he’s ditched Ben Affleck’s original script for the film and is starting fresh. The original script was penned by Affleck and Geoff Johns.

When asked about using the current script, Reeves said: “No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

We previously reported that Reeves described his take on Batman as a “noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way.”

Ben Affleck was originally set to direct, write and star in the film. He stepped down from directing in January due to the demands of acting and directing the blockbuster. Affleck is still set to star as Batman with Joe Manganiello, Jeremy Irons, and JK Simmons.
