“Drug Llama” Facing Time After Opioids Find Their Way Into Southern Illinois

Fairview Heights (AP) – A California woman who calls herself the “Drug Llama” could be in for an extended stay in Illinois. According to a story from the Associated Press, 31-year-old Melissa Scanlan will stand trial in Illinois on federal charges. Scanlan is accused in a conspiracy that included shipment of more than 50,000 fentanyl pills across the country, including in southern Illinois using the “dark web.” If convicted, Scanlan faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
