Carbondale – SIU Carbondale is set to welcome a new team to the Saluki family as they have announced that an E-Sports team will soon begin competition. According to a story from KFVS-TV, School officials have confirmed that a team will be formed under the National Association of Collegiate Esports. As part of the move, a space in the student center will be made into an “Esports Arena” that will hold the team’s practices and competitions. Associate Director for the Student Center Kent Epplin says at least 100 schools around the country have varsity level teams under the National Association of Collegiate Esports that give out scholarships, and said that he would like to see at SIUC.
