Marston, MO – The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad is investigating a murder that happened yesterday in Cape County. According to a release, deputies were called to a home on Old Sprigg Street Rd in a rural area of the county where they found a man dead. Foul play was thought to be involved and a suspect was identified. The suspect was found in a motel New Madrid County; south of Cape, and is reported to have taken a female hostage. After a standoff and negotiation with several law enforcement agencies, the suspect committed suicide. The female hostage was unharmed. No names are being released at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
