Carbondale – Two are recovering after a two vehicle accident in Carbondale yesterday afternoon. According to a release from the Illinois State Police, the accident happened on East Walnut Street at Cedarview Street when a vehicle being driven by Jane Ann Winther of Anita, Iowa was sideswiped while changing lanes by a vehicle in her blind spot being driven by Bertha Humm of Desoto. Humm’s vehicle was forced off of the road and struck a utility pole. A passenger in Humm’s vehicle, Alexandria Hartwick was taken via ambulance to a local hospital with what are described as incapacitating injuries. Humm received minor injuries.
