Fairfield Man Dead After Rollover Crash in White Co.

White Co. – A Fairfield man is dead after a one-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in White County. According to a release from the Illinois State Police, a vehcile being driven by 60-year-old James R. Pike was headed south on U.S. 45 south of County Road 2200 North when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the west side of the roadway. The truck struck a ditch and then rolled multiple times before coming to rest. Pike, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck. The White County Coroner’s Office pronounced Pike dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck, 25-year-old Tyler E. Hutcheson of Fairfield, refused medical treatment. Hutcheson received a citation for failure to wear a seat belt.
