Perry Co. – A DuQuoin man is recovering after a single vehicle accident in Perry County early yesterday morning. According to a release from the Illinois State Police, the accident happened when a vehicle being driven by Jerel Holmes was traveling eastbound on Route 152 when he lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a tree before the vehicle flipped and ejected Holmes. Holmes was taken via ambulance to Mitchell Browning Hospital in DuQuoin before being airlifted to at St. Louis area hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is listed as driving too fast for road conditions.
