Southern Illinois Shows Well in State Football Playoffs

Marion – Southern Illinois put on a good showing in the first round of the IHSA playoffs with several teams advancing to the second round. Marion, Carbondale, Murphysboro, Anna-Jonesboro, Chester and Fairfield all advancing to the second round. Anna-Jonesboro advances at the cost of West Frankfort. Herrin, DuQuoin, Nashville, Eldorado and Sesser-Valier-Waltonville also found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard as time expired on their first round matchups.
