Benton Man Arrested on Meth Charges, Parole Violation

Benton – A Benton man is facing drug charges after he was stopped and arrested by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies in Zeigler Saturday night.  Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says 26-year-old Joshua D. Briscoe was arrested for possession of methamphetamine 5 to 15 grams, two separate counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Briscoe, who is on parole for a burglary conviction, also now has a warrant for violating parole. The sheriff says the incident is still under investigation as some property was recovered during the arrest that is believed to have been stolen.
