Murphysboro – With the first dose of winter weather heading our way this evening, the Murphysboro Police Department has announced “snow routes” for the street department to ensure safe travel throughout the city. The snow routes, under city ordinance 24-9-1 must be kept clear if a forecast is given with three or more inches of snow expected. Snow routes are as follows:
- All of Walnut St.
- North 11th St from Walnut St to North 14th St.
- North 6th St from Lucier St to 2nd Street.
- Route 13 from Walnut St to Industrial Park Rd.
- Business Route 13 from Walnut St to Bridge St.
- 10th St from Mulberry St to Hanson St.
- 22nd St from Illinois Ave. to Division St.
- Division St from 22nd St to 23rd St.
- 23rd St from Illinois Ave. to Division St.
- Commercial Ave. from 23rd St to the Water Treatment Plant.
- Commercial Ave. from 20th Stt to 23rd St.
- Shoemaker Drive from 20th St to Bridge St.
- Bridge St from the its intersection with Shoemaker Drive to Walnut St via 8th St.
- Illinois Ave from 6th St to 22nd St.
- Gartside Street from 14th St to 22nd St.
- 20th St from Illinois Ave. to the southern city limits
- 16th St from Walnut St to Harry Ray Drive.
- 7th St from Lucier St to Walnut St.
