Franklin Co. Man Arrested After Attempted Burglary

Franklin Co. – A Franklin County man is behind bars after attempting to burglarize a vehicle. According to a report from the Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call in Thompsonville where an employee of the Thompsonville Service Center had confronted a male suspect who was attempting to burglarize a vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect threatened the employee with a knife. When deputies arrived they were able to disarm the suspect, identified as 46-year-old James D. Barrett of Texico, and take him into custody. Barrett is facing charges of burglary, theft, retail theft and aggravated assault with a knife.
