Franklin Co. – The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency is providing assistance to the Christian County Emergency Management Agency through the Illinois Emergency Management Assistance Team (EMAT) after a tornado touched down in Taylorville on Saturday causing heavy damage. Franklin Co have provided 7 personnel, our mobile command post, and an unmanned aircraft for damage assessment operations. Preliminary estimates are that the Taylorville tornado may have been an EF2, which indicates wind speeds as high as 135 mph. It could take several more days to know for sure.
