Mt. Vernon – A Trial date has been set for a Jefferson County man accused of shooting his brother to death earlier this year. According to a release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Sloan is accused of killing his brother David Sloan during an argument after a night of drinking at David’s home on the fourth of July. A mental fitness evaluation ordered by the court found Sloan to be fit for trial, but Sloan’s attorney disagrees with that finding. A jury trial has been set for February 13th, with pre-trial dates on January 5th and February 8th.
