Marion – A Michigan man is recovering after a single vehicle accident on I-57 in Williamson County Saturday morning. According to a release from the Illinois State Police the accident happened when a vehicle being driven by 18-year-old Malachi Griffin of Hancock Michigan was heading south on 57 near milepost 47 just past Marion and left the roadway into the median, flipping multiple times before coming to rest in the northbound lanes. Griffin was ejected from the vehicle and suffered incapacitating injuries. He was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital. The cause of crash is being stated as improper lane usage but the crash remains under investigation.
