Franklin Co. – Three in Franklin County face charges after a call about a stolen cell phone from an Akin business on Monday. According to a release from the Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office, the arrests took place after deputies received a call about the stolen phone. A review of the surveillance footage placed 25-year-old Seth Murphy of Thompsonville at the scene with the stolen phone. When Murphy arrived to return the stolen property, an investigation led to his arrest along with the two other people that brought Murphy back to the business. Murphy faces charges ranging from failure to appear to possession of a stolen firearm, a stolen vehicle and meth. The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Samuel Sweet of Thompsonville was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a suspended licenses, and a passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Darrian Willis of West Frankfort was charged with identity theft. All three are being held in the Franklin County Jail.
