Johnson Co. – One is dead after a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 24 in Johnson Co. According to a release from the Illinois State Police the accident happened at around 4:15 yesterday evening near mile marker 17 when a vehicle crossed the median from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a van before coming to rest in a treeline. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital where they later died. A passenger was uninjured, and the driver and three passengers in the van received treatment at the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The deceased driver was from out of state.
