1.3 Million Dollars Awarded to Public Schools in Illinois for Library Services

IRN – Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White has awarded over $1.3 million in library grant awards to 694 public school districts. Appropriations approved by the General Assembly and the Governor awarded school library grants based on a formula of $.75 per student, with a minimum grant award of $750. More than 1.6 million Illinois students served by school library media programs have benefited from the grants.  Locally, Benton Grade School will get a grant for $816.75 and Benton High School will receive a $750 grant. Sesser-Valier, Thompsonville, West Frankfort and Zeigler will get a $750 grant. Hamilton County Unit #10 will also get a grant for $865.50.
