Dorena, MO – The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is halting services until further notice due to floodwaters on the Mississippi. According to a release from the Ferry’s Captain, Jeremy Newson, the shutdown was announced last night at around 6:00 when the river reached a point of 46.02 feet in Cairo. The ferry halts operations at 40 feet. The river is expected to crest on Monday at approximately 49 feet. The ferry, which services traffic between Hickman Kentucky and Dorena Missouri just south of Cairo, could be operational by next Friday provided there is no additional rain.
