Carbondale – The City of Carbondale continues the replacement of the sanitary sewer along Oak Street. Due to this work, North Illinois Avenue, from Main to Oak streets, will be closed starting today through Wednesday. The intersection of North Illinois Avenue and Oak Street will be completely inaccessible during the three days. In addition to this closure, Oak Street, between University Avenue and the train tracks, will be closed starting today through Tuesday, Jan. 22. An official detour route for U.S. Highway 51 northbound traffic will begin at Main Street. U.S. Highway 51 southbound traffic will not be impacted.
