Marion – Southern Illinois is bracing for a winter storm Friday night into Saturday. Some areas could see six inches or more of snow as the storm comes through the area. Trooper Byron Farthing with Illinois State Police District 13 says residents should stay home if possible, and if you have to travel anywhere, allow for extra time on the roads to get to your destination. He also asks motors to give road crews plenty of space on the roads as they work through the storm. A winter storm warning is set for the listening area from 3 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday.
