Task Force Created to Determine Possibility of Four-Lane Highway Connecting Carbondale to St. Louis

Carbondale – A task force is being formed to determine the possibility of a four-lane highway that would connect Carbondale and St. Louis. Representatives Terri Bryant of Murphysboro, Jerry Costello II of Belleville and Senator Paul Schimpf were named by House Republican Leader Jim Durkin to what is called the “Southwest Illinois Connector Task Force” on Friday. The group will also include other members of legislature, IDOT appointees and leaders from the four counties that the highway would run through in Illinois if approved, Monroe, Perry, Randolph and Jackson counties.
