Union Co. Authorities Arrest Chester Man Accused in Death of Jeffery Spicer

Jackson Co. –  A Chester man is behind bars in connection to the September death of Jeffery Spicer. According to a release from the Union Co. State’s Attorney’s Office, 48-year-old William Wasmund was arrested this morning in connection to the death of Jeffery Spicer of Murphysboro. Spicer’s body was found dead along State Route 3 in rural Union Co. in September. The cause of death was never released but Union Co. Authorities did maintain that it was under suspicious circumstances. Wasmund is accused of rigging a shotgun to fire on Spicer as Spicer opened the door of a shed. He is being charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Jackson Co. Jail on $1,000,000 bond.
