Driver in Single-Vehicle Accident Pulled Out of Flood Waters by Good Samaritans

Murphysboro – A single-vehicle accident in Jackson Co. is under investigation. According to a report from the Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Office the accident happened on Route 13 east of Airport Road at just after 11:00am Monday when a vehicle left the right side of the roadway and traveled down an embankment before hitting a body of flood water, partially submerging the vehicle. Two passersby were able to stop and pull the unresponsive driver from the vehicle and stay with him until an ambulance arrived. The driver was taken to a local hospital. There is no word at this time on what caused the accident.
