One Injured in Single Vehicle Wreck on I-57 In Williamson Co.

Williamson Co. – One is recovering after a single vehicle accident on I-57 in Williamson County early this morning. According to a release from the Illinois State Police, 18-year-old Michael Brown of Grand Rapids, Michigan was heading southbound at milepost 44 at around 2:15am when he fell asleep at the wheel and ended up hitting a guardrail, causing major damage to his vehicle. There were four other passengers in the vehicle, including a 2-year-old. One passenger, 29-year-old Balinda McCoy suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. Brown was issued citations for driving without a valid driver’s license and improper lane usage.
