Brookport – Massac Co. has called a State of Emergency for the county due to the potential of severe flooding. According to a release from the Massac Co. Emergency Management Agency the call was made late Friday morning in order for them to gain access to resources that will be needed during the duration of the flood event that over extend resources that are available during normal operations. The Brookport Flood Gates were shut yesterday morning and others throughout the county have been shut over the weekend as well. The Emergency Operations Center for the county is open at this time and will be open until further notice. They ask that all flood related questions be directed to the EOC and not the Sheriff’s Office. The EOC’s direct number is 524-2002 and is available 24/7.
