Further Information Released on Marion Police Chase, Shooting

Marion – More information has been released in regards to the Friday night shooting involving an officer in Marion. According to a release from the Marion Police Department, officers were alerted to a reckless driver exiting into Marion from Interstate 57. Police were able to track down the driver and attempt to make a stop, but the driver, identified as Ethan Adams of Sikeston, began swerving into oncoming traffic and travelling on both sides of the road to evade police. Eventually Adams pulled into the Huck’s Parking Lot and stopped. Officers exited their squad cars and approached Adams, who sped off again, ramming a squad car and hitting a Marion Police Officer with his vehicle. At that time an officer fired into the suspect vehicle, hitting Adams at least once. Adams’ vehicle eventually became disabled and crashed into a business property on North Market Street. Both Adams and the officer received treatment for injuries but are expected to make a full recovery. Adams faces multiple charges. The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
