Mt. Vernon Police Release Identity of Suspect Being Sought in Connection to Saturday Shooting

Mt. Vernon – Mt. Vernon Police have released the identity of a 45-year-old man wanted in connection with an early Saturday morning shooting that sent a woman to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot injury. Police say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Smith W. Moore III, in connection with the shooting in the 400 block of South 17th Street Saturday. The warrant charges Moore with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Armed Habitual Offender, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
