Carbondale Man Behind Bars After Firing Shots Into a Crowd

Carbondale  – A Carbondale man is behind bars on gun charges after allegedly firing shots into a group of people outside of a Carbondale night club early Sunday morning. According to a release from the Carbondale Police, officers say they saw a man allegedly firing a handgun toward the crowd of people at the Hollywood Lounge in the 100 block of West Jackson Street in Carbondale early Sunday morning while mo office were monitoring the crowd. Officers attempted to apprehend the subject and he ran from the area. Officers later caught and arrested him in the 300 block of East Jackson Street. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jermaine Ross faces several charges including aggravated discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest and unlawful use of weapons by a felon among others. Officers recovered a handgun at the scene of the incident. Ross is being held in the Jackson County Jail. No one was injured during the incident. Police continue to investigate.
