Work Begins on Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge; Expected to Last Through September

Cape Girardeau – Work starts today on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge that connects Illinois and Missouri at Cape Girardeau. According to a release from the Missouri Department of Transportation, crews will be making repairs to a metal joint connection on the Missouri side of the bridge, which will cause a lane reduction down to 12 feet. The work is expected to last through September. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while driving through the work zone.
