Jackson Co. – A woman is dead after hitting a tree likely downed by last night’s storms in Jackson Co. According to a release from the Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call at around 10:30 last night about a single vehicle crash on Old Highway 13 just west of Pump House Rd. in rural Murphysboro. When they arrived to found the driver, identified as Angela Woods, dead at the scene. An investigation at the scene showed that the vehicle was headed westbound when it encountered the downed tree. The crash remains under investigation.
