Jackson Co. Declares State of Disaster as Flooding Threatens River Communities

Jackson Co. РJackson County is the latest county in Illinois to declare a state of disaster as flooding continues to threaten communities along the Mississippi. A proclamation of disaster was signed into effect yesterday afternoon in an attempt to expedite the delivery of resources to battle the flooding. Several roads throughout the county are flooded and at least one sink hole has formed due to over-saturated ground in Grand Tower. Sand boils are among the chief concerns as  they have formed in the Fountain Bluff and Degognia levee systems. The river is expected to crest at nearly 46 feet in Chester by tomorrow.
