Union Co. – Union County has declared a State of Emergency due to rising Mississippi River flooding. Union Co. Board Chairman Max Miller signed a disaster proclamation on Friday. All levee roads are closed to public traffic. The Union Co. Sheriff’s Office has state that in the event of a levee breach, the county’s tornado sirens will be activated for a three minute period to warn residents in the Wolf Lake and Ware area. The County EMA is advising residents to be aware of conditions and to take precautions until the river stages fall back to a safe level.
