Governor Pritzker Set to Sign Recreational Marijuana Bill at Ceremony in Chicago

Chicago – Governor J.B. Pritzker is set to put pen to paper this morning making Illinois officially the 11th state to legalize the use of recreational marijuana. In a move that will be celebrated by some and cause concern among others, the Governor is holding a ceremony in Chicago this morning per his daily schedule that was released late last night. The law will allow Illinois residents to purchase and hold up to 30 grams (1 ounce) of marijuana, and possibly more importantly, nonresidents will be able to purchase up to 15 grams. Lawmakers in support of the move are hoping that the state’s share of taxes coming from the newly legalized substance will provide much needed funding to the state’s coffers.
